Two Tractor-Trailers Collide on I-16 in Chatham County, Georgia

CHATHAM COUNTY, GA. – According to a news story reported online at wtoc.com, two tractor-trailers collided with each other on Interstate 16 in Chatham County, Georgia. It is not clear at this time how the accident took place or why, but officials say that no one was seriously injured following the crash.*

The crash occurred in the early morning near mile marker 151 on I-16. The Chatham County Police Department and WTOC report that at approximately 2 a.m., two tractor-trailers were traveling west on the interstate, when one somehow ran into the back of the other. It is not clear what caused the crash or what factors might have been involved. 

Emergency responders and authorities responding to the scene did not immediately say whether they were investigating any potential circumstances that might have led to the crash. The trucking companies potentially affiliated with the two rigs, if any, were not named. The report did not say what types of materials the trucks were hauling, and resulting damage to the trucks was not described. 

WTOC states that paramedics at the scene evaluated both of the drivers of the tractor-trailers, and neither appeared to be injured. It does not appear that any passengers were riding in the trucks. No one was transported to a medical facility. 

The accident resulted in at least one lane of travel closing down on the interstate while crews investigated at the scene. Investigation by the Chatham County Police Department is ongoing, and at the time of the WTOC report’s publishing online, no further information had been released to the public regarding the accident.
