Firetruck Crashes into Pickup Truck on S.R. 138 in Rockdale County, Georgia
ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA. – According to a news story reported online at 11alive.com, a firetruck crashed into a pickup truck on State Route 138 in Rockdale County, Georgia. Several people were injured in the crash, according to the report, and investigators are reportedly looking into whether the driver of the firetruck acted with appropriate caution.*
The crash took place in the afternoon at the intersection with Miller Bottom Road on State Route 138. Georgia State Patrol and 11 Alive report that a Walton County firetruck was traveling south on Miller Bottom Road and approached the intersection with its lights activated. The news report did not say what type of call the firetruck was responding to or where it was headed.
The truck then entered the intersection and crashed into a Ford F-250 that had been traveling east on State Route 138. Following impact, the Ford continued forward and turned over. The report indicated that the firetruck had a red light at the intersection, and the pickup truck had a green light.
11 Alive reports that three people were injured in the accident, and two passengers from the Ford were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of injuries and current medical conditions were not reported. No one involved in the accident was identified.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident, and according to 11 Alive, Troopers believed from preliminary review of the case that the driver of the firetruck might not have used appropriate caution in proceeding into the intersection. The report did not say whether charges were anticipated. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
