Single-Vehicle Wreck on I-10 in Gadsden County, Florida, Tragically Kills Driver

GADSDEN COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report published at wctv.com, a single-vehicle wreck that occurred on Interstate 10 in Gadsden County, Florida, tragically killed the driver. The news report also indicates that a passenger in the vehicle sustained injuries. The wreck is under investigation.* 

The incident happened in the late afternoon near mile marker 168. Florida Highway Patrol and WCTV report that a vehicle was traveling west on the interstate and attempted to make a turn. The make and model of the vehicle were not reported. In performing the turn, Troopers say the vehicle somehow lost traction and spun across and off of the interstate. The vehicle then left the shoulder and hit a tree before coming to a stop. 

The news report did not say what caused the vehicle to slide — whether it encountered water or mud or another hazard on the roadway. It is also not clear where the driver was trying to turn on the interstate. 

WCTV reports that the driver of the vehicle tragically died of his injuries from the crash. Officials identified him as a 67-year-old man from Sebring, Florida. WCTV additionally reports that the passenger in the vehicle was injured in the wreck. She was identified as a 53-year-old woman. It is unclear if she required medical transport for her injuries. No one else was in the vehicle at the time.

The accident resulted in closure of the westbound side of I-10 for approximately four hours. Multiple secondary vehicle accidents occurred during this time, the details of which were not included in the WCTV report.
