Rollover Accident on I-95 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Tragically Kills Passenger
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL. – According to a news story reported online at wptv.com, a rollover accident on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, tragically killed a passenger. One other person was injured in the wreck, according to the report, and it appears from preliminary investigation that the accident was caused by a blown tire.*
The collision occurred in the late afternoon by Military Trail on I-95. Florida Highway Patrol and WPTV report that at about 4:30 p.m., a 2005 Chevrolet van (model not reported) was headed south in the center lane of the interstate. Troopers say the van then experienced a tire failure, which caused the driver of the van to lose control.
Upon the driver’s loss of control, the van began rolling and turned over multiple times. It came to a final stop in between the center lane of the roadway and the HOV lane. The news report did not say whether the blown tire was due to a hazard on the interstate or whether it was due to an issue with the tire.
WPTV reports that a passenger in the van tragically died in the crash. He was identified by investigators as a 32-year-old man from Delray Beach, Florida. WPTV further reports that the driver of the van, identified as a 21-year-old man from Delray Beach, was injured. It is not clear if the driver was taken to a hospital.
Florida Highway Patrol is still reviewing the case. Troopers reportedly do not believe that alcohol played a role in the crash.
