Airboat Crash in Brevard County, Florida, Causes Injuries to Three
BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report published online at floridatoday.com, an airboat crash in Brevard County, Florida, caused injuries to three people. The boat was reportedly a commercial vessel carrying people on a tour, when it crashed for reasons not yet reported to the public.*
The incident occurred during the afternoon by the Lone Cabbage Fish camp on the St. John’s River. The U.S. Coast Guard and Florida Today report that a commercial airboat called The Twister II was carrying passengers on a tour at about 1 p.m. Somehow, the airboat ended up crashing during the course of the tour.
The events of the crash were not reported, so it is unclear if the airboat crashed into another boat or object or if it was involved in some other type of collision. The report did not say whether investigators suspected any factors having been involved in the accident.
Brevard County Fire Rescue went to the scene, and Florida Today reported that three people were injured in the accident. Emergency responders took them to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their current conditions are not known. The three people were not identified, and it is not clear how many passengers were on the airboat in total when it crashed. No additional injuries were reported.
The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the incident, and no further information about the crash or the investigation was released at the time of the Florida Today report.
Lone Cabbage has been the site of other crashes involving airboats, including a crash in 2017 that tragically killed two people. Earlier this year, a private airboat crashed in about the same area, injuring three people.
