Fire Truck Accident on Hwy 49 in Gray, Georgia, Causes One Fatality

GRAY, GA. – According to a news report published online at 41nbc.com, a fire truck accident that occurred on Highway 49 in Gray, Georgia, caused one fatality. The victim has not been identified, and authorities are still in the process of investigating the wreck to determine what happened.* 

The accident happened in the late morning in the area of Highway 49 and Oak Valley Drive in Gray, Jones County, Georgia. The Jones County Sheriff’s Office and 41 NBC report that at about 10:30 a.m., a vehicle was traveling on the highway and somehow crashed head-on into a fire truck that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The news report did not say how the accident happened or whether one of the vehicles crossed over the centerline of the highway. The make and model of the vehicle were not reported, nor was any information about the events leading to the collision. However, the report said that the driver of the vehicle was on his way to his house because there was a fire at his property.

41 NBC reports that the driver of the vehicle was tragically killed in the accident. His identity was not released by officials. 

41 NBC further reports that one firefighter was injured in the accident and taken to Navicent Health for treatment. This person was also not identified, and the extent of his or her injuries is not known. No other injuries were reported. 

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the accident, and at the time the 41 NBC news story was published online, no additional details had been released.
