One Person Tragically Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on East 5th Ave. in Hialeah, Florida
HIALEAH, FL. – According to a news report published online at miami.cbslocal.com, one person was tragically killed in a hit-and-run vehicle crash that happened on East 5th Avenue in Hialeah, Florida. The news report indicates that another person was also injured in the accident, and authorities have arrested a suspect.*
The accident happened during the evening at the intersection of 41st Street and East 5th Avenue. CBS Miami reports that a car traveling at a high rate of speed somehow crashed into another car on the roadway at about 7:30 p.m. At impact, the car that was struck ended up overturning, and both vehicles traveled off the roadway.
It is not clear why the accident occurred or what circumstances led to the accident. The rate of speed the first vehicle was traveling has not been confirmed by investigators. The driver of that vehicle reportedly left the scene after the accident but was apprehended by police a short distance away from the scene. The two people in the car that was struck sustained serious injuries. CBS Miami reports that one of the occupants, identified as a 70-year-old woman, tragically died at the scene.
