Accident Involving Tractor Trailer Causes Shut Down of Henry County Interstate

HENRY COUNTY, GA – According to an online news report at, a team of investigators is working to ascertain what caused a crash that occurred in the early morning that caused the shut-down of all lanes of SB Interstate 75 located past exit 212.  The accident recently occurred in the early morning hours.*

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, a tractor trailer and a pickup truck were involved in an accident. As a result, police diverted traffic off of Interstate 75 at Bill Gardner Parkway.

There are several reasons why trucking accidents occur.  The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has issued a list of the reasons why trucking accidents occur which are known as the “critical factors” for truck accidents.  There are two main contributing factors that are associated with the cause of trucking accident – vehicle and driver error.  Driver error is attributed to the following:

  • A life-threatening condition or the onset of one while driving
  • Driving while impaired by drugs and alcohol
  • Inattention to the road
  • Driver distraction
  • Speeding
  • Misjudging the space between a vehicle and truck
  • Tailgating
  • Driving aggressively
  • Illegal maneuvers
  • Poor curve navigation
  • Driver inexperience
  • Overcompensation

Vehicular and environmental factors also lead to accidents.  Vehicular factors include the following:

  • Tire failures
  • Wheel failures
  • Brake failures
  • Steering failures
  • Shifting cargo
  • Suspension system failures
  • Degrading brakes
  • Poor weather conditions from hail, ice, rain or heavy winds
