Woman who Caused Hit-and-Run Accident in Michigan was Arrested in Georgia

WARREN, MI – According to an online news report from clickondetroit.com, a woman who was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Warren, Michigan was arrested in Georgia, per the local police.*

A woman who was at large due to being connected with a deadly hit-and-run accident was arrested in Georgia, per the local police.  

Police in Warren note that a woman, aged 46 of St. Clair Shores, was responsible for a hit-and-run accident last month that killed a man.  The woman turned herself in at the Decatur, Georgia sheriff’s office earlier this week. 

"This is the outcome for which he hoped," said the Warren Police Commissioner.

The woman had several warrants out for her arrest in connection with the man’s death and a result, was deemed a fugitive on the run.  The accident occurred on Schoenherr Road close to Julius Avenue, per local police. The man was struck by the woman as he was crossing the road.  The man became trapped underneath her vehicle, per authorities.  

Officers state that the man was dragged by the woman’s vehicle for a mile.  The man was then struck by two other vehicles, the drivers of whom stopped at the scene of the accident.

The woman is being charged with manslaughter with a motor vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury or death, and involuntary manslaughter 

Both of the manslaughter charges could result in up to fifteen years in prison.  The failure to stop charge is associated with a prison sentence of up to five years.

There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
