Vehicle Collision on SR 85 in Crestview, Florida, Causes Injuries to Motorcyclist
CRESTVIEW, FL. – According to a news report published online at nwfdailynews.com, a vehicle collision that took place on State Road 85 in Crestview, Florida, caused injuries to a motorcyclist. Florida Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and reports that the motorcyclist was airlifted away from the scene with serious injuries.*
The accident happened in the early evening at the intersection of State Road 85 and Live Oak Church Road. Florida Highway Patrol and NWF Daily News report that shortly before 6 p.m., a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on State Road 85, while a 2012 Subaru Legacy was traveling north on the same roadway.
At the intersection with Live Oak Church Road, the driver of the Subaru attempted to make a left-hand turn and crossed into the path of the motorcycle. The two vehicles then collided. The report did not say why the driver of the Subaru turned in front of the motorcycle or what circumstances led to the accident. However, investigators said they did not believe alcohol was involved.
NWF Daily News reports that the motorcyclist was injured in the accident, and emergency responders called in a medical helicopter to fly him to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Officials identified him as a 48-year-old man from Crestview and said that his injuries were considered serious. A current medical condition was not reported.
The driver of the Subaru sustained minor injuries, according to the news report. She was identified as a 33-year-old woman from Crestview. It is not clear if she was transported anywhere for treatment. NWF Daily News says she has been charged with failure to yield.
