Hit-and-Run Crash Tragically Kills Pedestrian on I-75 in Hillsborough County, Florida

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at tbreporter.com, a hit-and-run crash tragically killed a pedestrian on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County, Florida. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are reportedly searching for the driver involved in the accident and asking for people with information to come forward.*

The crash took place in the early afternoon by mile marker 238 on Interstate 75 North. Florida Highway Patrol and the Tampa Bay Reporter state that a northbound vehicle somehow struck a pedestrian near a rest area on the interstate. The driver of the vehicle did not stay at the scene but kept driving, according to authorities. 

It is not clear what the pedestrian was doing on the interstate or in what direction he was walking at the time of the collision. The circumstances of the accident are not yet known. The Tampa Bay Reporter states that the pedestrian was tragically killed in the accident. Officials have identified him as a 50-year-old man from Tampa, Florida. 

Since the accident, Troopers have been searching for the vehicle and driver involved. Investigators believe the vehicle is a Volvo, but the model and color of the vehicle were not provided. No descriptive information about the suspected driver was reported. At the time the Tampa Bay Reporter’s story was posted online, no arrests had been made in the case.
