Illinois is Twenty Second State to Allow for School Bus Light System

June 29, 2019

TOLEDO, OH — According to an online news report at, Illinois is the 22nd state to allow for a school bus lighting system.  The lighting system is manufactured by the company “Gardian Angel®,” which is now celebrating the fact that Illinois has implemented this safety system that protects school children from harm by those who illegally pass school bus stops (known as stop arm violations) and cause accidents.*

The founders and inventors of the Guardian Angel school bus lighting system have worked doggedly for almost a decade to improve bus parts and have gained credibility among transportation authorities and committees across the United States.  The good news about the lighting system is that it has been shown to combat stop arm violations, which has been tested, proven and documented by school transportation entities across the country.

According to the online report,  there are twenty-two states that have implemented the bus lighting system, which include: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

The Gardian Angel® is a lighting system that attaches to the exterior of a school bus.  The system is considered the most advanced technology to reduce the number of stop arm violations and increases the safety of students who rely on school buses to go to and from school. The technology exceeds the current federal standards that mandate and enforce school bus safety.

The features of the technology are meant to decrease the occurrences of illegally passing stop arms, and to help the bus driver see better when it is dark out.  It also reduces loading and unloading zone injuries and death, as well as helps to reduce accidents with school buses.
