Deadly Early Morning Crash Causes Huntersville Road to be Shut Down

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — According to an online news report at, a person has died and another individual was sent to the hospital after a morning accident involving two vehicles. The accident happened on McCoy Road in Huntersville, North Carolina.*

A person has died and another hospitalized following an early morning accident that caused Huntersville Road to be closed for several hours.  The vehicular accident involved a sports utility vehicle and a motorcycle, per the Huntersville Police Department.

The Huntersville Police Department reported that two individuals had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. Per the online news report, the accident occurred in the early morning as the motorcyclist was heading south on McCoy Road.  The sports utility vehicle was attempting to make a left turn and struck the motorcyclist.

The road, as of earlier this morning, is expected to be closed while police investigate the crash.  The Huntersville Police Department indicated that they did not have an estimated time of reopening the roadway. It is unclear as to whether the road has been reopened at this time.  Drivers were told to take alternative routes to their destinations.
