Pedestrian Injured in Fayetteville Accident
FAYETTEVILLE, NC – According to online news articles at cbs17.com and abc11.com, a pedestrian became critically injured after being struck by a vehicle earlier this week in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The accident caused a road closure for a significant period of time as the accident was investigated.*
A pedestrian, a 61 year old man, was walking on North Eastern Boulevard between Link and Grove streets in Fayetteville, North Carolina. During this time, the man was struck by a vehicle and as a result, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he is listed as in critical condition due to the impact of the crash.
The southern lanes of North Eastern Boulevard were closed to traffic between Person and Grove streets as police investigated the accident. The road was closed during the morning commute, requiring drivers to pursue alternative routes until the site was cleared later on that day.
“The preliminary investigation has revealed that [the victim] stepped off the center median and into the vehicle travel lanes,” per a news release. This is when the man was struck by a vehicle driven by a 28 year old male. It is not clear at this time whether the driver will face charges for causing the crash.
There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
