Four People Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Crash in Charlotte, North Carolina

June 25, 2019

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three vehicles collided on Park Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. The wreck sent four people to the hospital with severe injuries according to a report filed by WBTV. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police launched an investigation into the crash, which shut down the road for over an hour. Charlotte fire and medics assisted the wounded at the scene. Medics transported four individuals to local hospitals. Medics said that three people sustained very serious injuries and the fourth person sustained injuries described as non-life threatening. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police did not provide a cause of the crash to the media at this time, and the incident remains under investigation. *

Photos and video were taken of the accident scene by news outlets depict a horrific crash. The footage shows a black pickup truck flipped over onto its passenger’s side across the sidewalk and perpendicular to the roadway. The photos also show a red minivan or small sports utility-type vehicle turned sideways blocking the center lane of travel. The red vehicle's front end is in the left lane, and its bumper is in the right travel lane. The locus of the crash appears to be just in front of the front bumper of the red car based on stains in the road that appears to be spillage from one or both of the vehicles. The third vehicle purportedly involved in the wreck is not pictured.

Medics did not give an update on the current medical condition of the four people who were injured. Additionally, medics did not indicate from which vehicle or vehicles those most seriously injured in the crash were riding.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police accident investigators have not announced whether any criminal charges or civil motor vehicle infractions could come as a consequence of this accident. Officers still have the accident under investigation.
