MARTA Bus Accident on 10th Street in Atlanta, Georgia, Injures Pedestrian

ATLANTA, GA. – According to a news report posted online at cbs46.com, a MARTA bus accident that occurred on 10th Street in Atlanta, Georgia, injured a pedestrian. It appears the bus ran into the pedestrian during an attempted turn, while the pedestrian was crossing the roadway. The incident is under investigation, according to the report.* 

The accident took place during the evening by West Peachtree and 10th Street in Atlanta. Officials and CBS 46 report that a woman was trying to cross the street in the area, and at the same time, a MARTA bus was traveling through the area and attempted to make a turn at the corner. It is not clear what direction the bus was headed or where the woman was walking. 

In making the turn, the MARTA bus collided with the woman. The news report says that the bus struck the pedestrian’s legs during the collision. The report did not say whether the woman was inside of a crosswalk or whether the woman or the bus had the right-of-way at the time of the accident. 

CBS 46 reports that the woman sustained injuries to her legs and feet during the accident. She was reportedly taken to a hospital in the Atlanta area, where she is said to be recovering. She was not identified in the report. 

The bus driver was also not identified. The report did not say how many passengers were aboard the bus at the time of the collision, if any, or whether anyone else was injured in the incident. CBS 46 reports that the bus driver has been placed on leave for the investigation. MARTA police will be handling the case.
