Tragic, Fatal Accident Reported on Hwy 370 in Early County, Georgia
EARLY COUNTY, GA. – According to a news story reported online at earlycountynews.com, a tragic, fatal vehicle accident was reported on Highway 370 in Early County, Georgia. Early County News reports that a teenager was tragically killed in the collision, which involved a car and a logging truck.*
The accident happened in the morning near the intersection with Highway 273 on Highway 370, close to Cedar Springs, Georgia, and Georgia Pacific. Georgia State Patrol and Early County News report that a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling on the highway and somehow crashed into a Freightliner logging truck head-on.
It is not clear how the crash occurred or what events might have led to the collision. Early County News says that the Georgia State Patrol report regarding the accident was not complete at the time the news story was published online.
Early County News reports that the two occupants of the Chevy had to be extricated from the vehicle, and the passenger tragically died of his injuries. He was identified as an 18-year-old male from Donalsonville, Georgia. The driver sustained serious injuries, according to the news report, and was flown from the scene to Southeast Health. She was identified as a 16-year-old girl from Colquitt, Georgia.
The driver of the logging truck was identified as a 53-year-old man from Brinson, Georgia. It is not clear if he sustained injuries in the crash or if anyone else was riding in the truck.
Georgia State Patrol is still in the process of investigating. Troopers were not reported to have said whether charges were anticipated in the case.
