Macon Water Authority Employee Sustains Fatal Injuries in Workplace Accident

MACON, GA – According to an online news reports at wgxa.tv and 13wmaz.com, a worker with the Macon Water Authority who was seriously injured in a workplace accident succumbed to his injuries.*

An employee of the Macon Water Authority who was seriously injured in a workplace accident tragically died due to the extent of his injuries.

Per the Bibb County Coroner, a thirty five year old man from Gordon, Georgia was pronounced dead after a workplace accident that occurred earlier this week.  The man was working on Bass Road earlier in the morning to repair a faulty water main. As he was engaging in repairs, his equipment that he was operating kicked back.  This caused him to sustain serious injuries.  The man was taken by an ambulance to Navicent Health where he tragically died from his injuries.  

The Macon Water Authority has indicated in a statement that they are "following normal protocol to investigate the details of the work place accident."

The president of the Macon Water Authority stated that "[r]ight now our concern is with [the worker], his family, his crew with him the time of the accident, and his coworkers who work with him every day. The authority is like an extended family so it’s very upsetting when something happens to one of our family members."

The president did not provide any further information as to the equipment the worker was using at the time of the accident.  He also did not provide the nature of his injuries.  

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, they are not conducting an investigation of the accident because they do not get involved with county run companies.
