Pedestrian Tragically Killed in Walmart Parking Lot Accident in Pinellas County, Florida

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at tbreporter.com, a pedestrian was tragically killed in an accident that occurred in a Walmart parking lot in Pinellas County, Florida. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the accident and say that charges are pending.*

The accident occurred in the late afternoon in the parking lot of a Walmart located in the 35000 block of U.S. Highway 19 in Pinellas County. Florida Highway Patrol and the Tampa Bay Reporter state that at approximately 3 p.m., a woman was inside of a pedestrian crosswalk near the lawn and garden center at Walmart. 

A 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck (model not reported) was traveling north in the parking lot and attempted to make a left turn. Troopers say the driver of the pickup truck did not see the pedestrian in making the turn, and the truck ran into her. The news report did not say how fast the pickup was traveling or why the driver did not see the pedestrian. 

The Tampa Bay Reporter says the pedestrian sustained critical injuries, and emergency responders took her to Advent Health North Pinellas, where she tragically died. She was identified as a 76-year-old woman from Palm Harbor, Florida. 

The driver of the Chevy was identified as a 36-year-old man from Holiday, Florida. The report did not say whether he was injured or if anyone was riding in the truck with him. Florida Highway Patrol is handling the investigation, and Troopers said that charges were pending the outcome of the investigation.
