Tractor Trailer Catches Fire in Early Morning Accident on Interstate 85 in Georgia

June 20, 2019

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – According to an online news report at fox5atlanta.com, an accident involving a tractor trailer caused major traffic delays on Interstate 85 south during the weekend.*

Emergency personnel were called to the scene of an accident that occurred on Interstate 85 located close to Jimmy Carter Boulevard following reports of a crash in the early morning hours this past weekend.  It appears that an 18-wheeler and another truck collided, which caused both vehicles to catch on fire.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, both trucks were engulfed in flames.  The accident caused all lanes between Pleasantdale Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard to be shut down due to the extent of the wreckage at the crash site.

According to local officials, both drivers were able to exit their vehicles.  One was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a minor injury.  The other driver was evaluated and released at the scene.
