Vehicle Accident on James Road in Raleigh, North Carolina, Tragically Kills Motorcyclist

RALEIGH, NC. – According to a news story reported online at, a vehicle accident on James Road in Raleigh, North Carolina, caused the tragic death of a motorcyclist. Little information about the collision has been released at this time, and the Raleigh Police Department is still investigating.*

The accident took place in the late afternoon near the intersection of James Road and North New Hope Road. Police and CBS 17 report that a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle somehow crashed into each other in the area around 4:40 p.m. It is not yet clear how the accident happened or what factors might have led to the collision. 

Police officers said that the motorcycle was wedged under the vehicle when they arrived at the scene. The makes and models of the motorcycle and the passenger vehicle were not reported.

CBS 17 reports that the person riding on the motorcycle was tragically killed in the collision. He or she was not identified by officials. It does not appear anyone else was on the bike during the crash.

CBS 17 also reports that the driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries and went to a local hospital for treatment. This person was also not identified, and it is not clear how seriously he or she was injured. 

The Raleigh Police Department is handling investigation of the accident, and at the time of the CBS 17 report’s posting online, officers had not provided information about the cause of the crash. A witness at the accident scene told reporters that it had started raining shortly before the crash, so weather might have had something to do with the incident. That information was not confirmed by police.
