Worker is Rescued from Trench Close to the North Carolina Central University Football Stadium
DURHAM, NC – According to an online news report at abc11.com, a worker was freed from a trench that collapsed close to the North Carolina Central University’s (NCCU) football stadium.*
A worker was freed from a trench that collapsed close to NCCU’s football stadium. Police were called to the scene of a “structure collapse” near the stadium. A news helicopter caught the scene on video which shows a worker who was trapped in a collapse of a trench. Apparently, the worker’s legs were trapped however, his upper body and head were above the ground.
About an hour after emergency responders arrived at the scene, they were able to free the trapped man. He was transported via ambulance to a local hospital. He was conscious at the time he was freed. The current condition of the man is unknown. It is not clear as to the cause of the trench collapse. The incident remains under investigation by local police.
