CHARLOTTE, NC – According to online news reports at wsoctv.com and wcnc.com, a pedestrian is struck and killed in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The names of the driver and pedestrian have not been released at this time.*

A pedestrian was struck and killed in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently investigating the accident.  The names of the driver and pedestrian have not yet been released to the public.

The accident occurred in the 1800 block of Bessbrook Road, per the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.  This is in the vicinity of Steele Creek, close to the border of South Carolina.

The police state that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.  As a result of the impact of the accident, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.  

There are no further details on the accident at this time.  The crash remains under investigation by local police. It is not clear whether the driver sustained any injuries.
