Tractor Trailer Hits Six Year Old who was Stepping off of a Bus in Interstate 290
ELGIN, TX – According to an online news report at brownsoodtx.com, a tractor trailer struck and injured a six year old child that was in the process of stepping off of an Elgin school district bus located on United States Highway 290, located due east of Elgin. The accident occurred earlier this week, per the Texas Department of Public Safety.*
The bus was stopped at a drop off point on United States Highway 290 close to Christensen Road. At such time, a tractor trailer swerved to the right side of the bus and struck the student, according to an Elgin school district spokesperson.
The accident happened in the early evening, according to the Texas Department of Safety. The child was transported to a local children’s hospital with injuries that appear to be non-life threatening.
The accident remains under investigation by local police. There are no further details on the accident at this time. It is not clear as to whether charges will be filed against the truck driver.
