June 14, 2019

NASHVILLE, TN – According to an online news report at fox17.com, emergency workers were dispatched to the scene of a deadly workplace accident at the Vulcan Materials Company.  The accident scene is located at 5853 River Road in Nashville, Tennessee.  The Nashville Fire Department worked the scene of the incident.*

It is not clear as to the facts regarding how the accident occurred.  There currently is no information as to the identity of the victim.  The accident remains under investigation. There are no further details on the accident at this time.

As the City of Nashville’s population continues to increase, so is the amount of deaths at the workplace.  Recently, two people in Tennessee perished in workplace accidents at construction sites.  According to statewide statistics, fatalities in the workplace have reached a five-year high, with the latest death that occurred in Clarksville.

The death of the man involved in the accident in Clarksville was due to the fact that the driver of a bucket truck collided with a patrol vehicle and two lifts.  The man was located on one of the lift at the time of the accident.

This latest accident raises the number of workplace related deaths to forty-one this year.  There were a total of thirty-five deaths last year, with construction deaths being the most common among all workplace accidents.

Also, recently, a twenty-six-year-old man from Murfreesboro, Tennessee was assisting a welder in a newly developed elevator shaft on the tenth floor of a building when he was hit by the elevator’s pulley system.  This incident resulted in his tragic death.  OSHA is currently conducting an investigation of the man’s death.
