Deadly Crash on SR 429 on West Orange County, Florida

WEST ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida State Highway Patrol officers said that one man died, and three people were injured and transported to Orlando Health after the pickup truck in which they were riding flipped over. The driver died at the scene of the crash. The three passengers were hospitalized at Orlando Health. At this time it appears the pickup truck was the only vehicle involved in the incident according to No update is currently available on the condition of the three people who survived the crash. Florida Highway Patrol officers continue to investigate the crash. *

News reports from related that the pickup truck flipped over on State Road 429 southbound. The crash cast debris from the pickup and personal items across the grassy median separating the southbound and northbound lanes. The pickup truck halted in the left lane of the southbound side State Road 429 near Exit 23, which is the West Colonial Drive exit.

Florida State Troopers blocked off traffic so they could investigate the incident. WFTV 9 reported that the authorities were able to keep one southbound lane open for motorists to pass through the area. Notwithstanding the one open lane, the accident and subsequent investigation backed up traffic in the area significantly. 

Despite their extensive investigation, few details were made available. The Florida State Troopers told the media that the driver died at the scene of the crash. A reporter commented on observing a vehicle from the medical examiner’s office arriving on scene to claim the body of the deceased operator and said troopers interviewed several people at the scene regarding the fatal crash. 

The final details of the crash investigation were not made available. Investigators did not release any information about the identity of the three injured passengers or their current medical condition except to say that they were transported to Orlando Health for treatment.
