Elderly Man Tragically Dies in Winfield, Tennessee Car Accident
WINFIELD, TN – According to an online news report at ihoneida.com, an elderly man was found dead inside his vehicle on Pleasant Grove Road earlier this week.*
A seventy six year old man was found deceased inside his vehicle that appeared to have been in an accident on Pleasant Grove earlier this week. The man, from Winfield, Tennessee was the only occupant of his Chevy Equinox sports utility vehicle that crashed into a creek off of Pleasant Grove Road.
According to a report issued by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the seventy six year old man’s vehicle was travelling in an easterly direction on Pleasant Grove Road when it exited the roadway on its right side. The accident caused the vehicle to strike two utility poles. The vehicle then turned over and plunged down into an embankment into a creek before stopping.
The vehicle involved in the crash was discovered by a worker for a local utility company who had been dispatched to the scene of the accident to repair a broken pole. The accident was discovered in the morning hours earlier this week.
The exact cause of the accident is not clear at this time. Per a report filed by a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper, the accident is currently under investigation. There are no further details.
The seventy six year old victim had two children, a daughter from Helenwood, Tennessee and a son from Johnson City, Tennessee. He was also a grandfather of three children. His wife of fifty five years died in May of 2017.
