Two Individuals Found Deceased in Crashed Vehicle

KINGSPORT, TN – According to an online news report at, police are seeking information regarding the death of two individuals who were found deceased in a crashed automobile.*

Per the Kingsport Police Department, a motorist noticed a red 2015 Kia Rio overturned on the top of the vehicle under the Interstate 81 overpass located at Lynn Road.  This accident apparently occurred earlier this week in the early morning.

According to investigators, the driver, a woman aged 37 from Hampton, Virginia, and her passenger, a woman aged thirty six from Williamsburg, Virginia, were found dead inside of their vehicle.  The engine was cold to the touch when investigators arrived at the scene.  This caused difficulty in the ability to determine when the accident occurred. 

Per investigators, they were able to ascertain that the vehicle was going southbound on Interstate 81 when it entered into the median.  The vehicle, per local authorities, appeared to have been airborne, flipped over and landed on its roof down an embankment on the opposite side of Lynn Road.

Kingsport police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have any information about the incident to come forward. You can reach investigators by calling 423-224-2750. Anonymous tips may be submitted online

There are no further details on the accident at this time.  The crash remains under investigation by local police.
