Motorcycle Crash Reported on Johnson Dairy Rd. in Iredell County, North Carolina
IREDELL COUNTY, NC. – According to a news report posted online at independenttribune.com, a fatal motorcycle crash was reported on Johnson Dairy Road in Iredell County, North Carolina. North Carolina State Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation, and Troopers say the collision occurred when a vehicle pulled in front of the motorcycle.*
The accident occurred during the evening near Highway 3 on Johnson Dairy Road. North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Independent Tribune report that a motorcycle was traveling on the roadway, when a BMW attempted to make a left turn onto Johnson Dairy.
Troopers say the BMW (model not reported) did not yield to the motorcycle and turned into the motorcycle’s path. The two vehicles then collided.
The Independent Tribune reports that the person riding on the motorcycle was tragically killed in the accident. Officials identified the victim as a 47-year-old man from Kannapolis, North Carolina. Troopers reported that he was wearing a helmet when the accident happened. The news report did not mention any passengers on the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
No identifying information about the BMW driver was released, and it is not clear if he or she was injured in the accident. It is unclear how many people were inside the BMW.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident, and Troopers had not identified a cause for the crash at the time the Independent Tribune report was posted online. Troopers did say that they did not believe speeding was a factor in the accident.
