Fatal Wrong-Way Crash Occurs on Hwy 905 in Columbus County, North Carolina
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC. – According to a news report published online at wwaytv3.com, a tragic, fatal wrong-way vehicle crash occurred on North Carolina Highway 905 in Columbus County, North Carolina. The news report states that a school teacher and her husband were tragically killed in the accident, and a pastor has been criminally charged.*
The accident occurred during the evening at an unknown location on Highway 905. Authorities say that a vehicle was traveling the wrong direction on the highway and crashed head-on into another vehicle. WWAY reports that a 51-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man who were riding in the second vehicle were sadly killed in the crash. The woman was reportedly a teacher at South Columbus High School, and the man was her husband.
WWAY also reports that the driver of the wrong-way vehicle was injured in the accident and treated at a local hospital. Following the crash, WWAY reports that this driver was charged with felony death by vehicle and driving while impaired. He was identified as a 57-year-old man and a pastor at a church in Currie, North Carolina. His bond was set at $200,000.
The church, Moore’s Creek Missionary Baptist, posted a message to social media after the accident, saying, “As we go throughout today and everyday going forward, please keep [the pastor] in your prayers during his recovery period from the accident … Also, please keep the [victims’] family in deep and consistent prayer as they prepare to have funeral services for [the victims] who lost their lives in the accident.”
