Single-Car Collision Occurs on Arlington Dr. in Sumter County, Georgia

SUMTER COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report posted online at wgxa.tv, a single-car collision was reported to have occurred on Arlington Drive in Sumter County, Georgia. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly injured and had to be freed from the vehicle, after which he or she was airlifted from the scene.*

The accident occurred in the late evening hours on an unknown stretch of Arlington Road in Sumter County. Sumter County Fire and Rescue reportedly responded to a call about a vehicle accident around 9 p.m. and arrived to find that only one vehicle was involved. The make and model of the vehicle was not reported, nor was the exact location of the accident. 

The driver of the vehicle was reportedly trapped, and crews responding to the scene had to take off the windshield of the vehicle in order to remove the victim. A medical helicopter was called to the scene, which airlifted the victim to a hospital nearby for emergency treatment. The driver was not identified, and his or her current medical status was not included in the report. 

It does not appear that anyone else was riding in the vehicle when it crashed. No information about the cause of the accident or the events surrounding the accident was reported. It is not clear which agency is investigating the collision, as multiple responded to the scene. 

Following the accident, Sumter County Fire and Rescue posted a message on social media about the collision with entrapment. The post said that Goldstar EMS administered care to the victim on scene, and that the agency’s thoughts and prayers were with the victim.
