Tractor-Trailer Collision Reported on I-75 in Peach County, Georgia

PEACH COUNTY, GA. – According to news reports posted online at 41nbc.com and wgxa.tv, a tragic tractor-trailer collision has been reported to have occurred on Interstate 75 in Peach County, Georgia. The tractor-trailer crashed into another vehicle head-on, causing the driver of the second vehicle to be tragically killed, according to the news reports.*

The accident happened in the early morning near mile marker 141 on Interstate 75. Georgia State Patrol reports that a 2005 Dodge Caravan was traveling north on the interstate shortly before 1 a.m., while a tractor-trailer was traveling south. Troopers say the driver of the tractor-trailer somehow lost control of the vehicle and entered the median of the interstate.

The tractor-trailer then crossed into northbound traffic and struck the Dodge head-on. It is not clear at this time what caused the accident. Neither of the news reports listed information related to potential factors involved in the tractor-trailer driver’s loss of control. 

WGXA and 41 NBC report that the driver of the Dodge was tragically killed in the accident. She was identified as a 70-year-old woman from Florida. 41 NBC reports that the Peach County Coroner’s Office is trying to locate the victim’s family members for notification, and people with information about the victim should call (478) 955-2967. 

It is not clear if the driver of the tractor-trailer was injured. He or she was not identified in either report. Post 15 of the Georgia State Patrol, located in Perry, Georgia, is handling the accident investigation. The Specialized Reconstruction Team is in the process of determining what events led to the crash.
