Vehicle Crash Reported on I-65 in Birmingham, Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, AL. – According to a news story reported online at, a vehicle crash was reported on Interstate 65 in Birmingham, Alabama. Tragically, the crash resulted in a fatality. The circumstances of the accident are not clear from the news story, and authorities are still investigating to determine what happened.*

The accident took place near Daniel Payne Drive on Interstate 65. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and The Trussville Tribune report that a 2000 Ford F-250 was traveling southbound on the interstate and for unknown reasons left the roadway, then crashed into a utility pole. After impact, the truck reportedly caught on fire.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are not clear based on the information contained in the news report. The Trussville Tribune states that 12 vehicles were involved in the accident, but the other vehicles were not described, and no information was reported about how those vehicles came to be involved in the collision. It is not clear if the other vehicles crashed in response to the F-250 collision or if the F-250 ran off the road trying to avoid another crash.

The Trussville Tribune reports that the driver of the F-250 tragically died in the accident. The report says that the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office was not releasing information about the victim’s identity at this time. No other injuries were reported. 

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is still in the process of completing its investigation, and no further information about the accident was contained in the news report from The Trussville Tribune.
