Tragic Two-Vehicle Crash Occurs on Barcelona Ave. in Venice Beach, Florida
VENICE BEACH, FL. – According to an online news report published at wfla.com, a tragic two-vehicle accident occurred on Barcelona Avenue in Venice Beach, Florida. The accident resulted in the death of one person and injuries to three other people, according to the news report.*
The accident happened in the late afternoon at the crossing with The Esplanade on Barcelona Avenue in Venice, Florida. The Venice Police Department and WFLA report that at about 3:30 p.m., a van traveling toward the intersection failed to stop and crashed into a southbound car. Upon impact, the car careened into the parking lot of a convenience store located near the intersection.
It is not yet clear what caused the accident to occur, and the news report did not say whether the intersection is controlled by a stop sign or a stoplight. Police officers said that they were investigating all potential factors that could have contributed to the wreck, including speeding and whether the driver of the van suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision.
WFLA reports that the driver of the car was tragically killed in the accident. No identifying information about him or her was reported. In addition, a passenger in the car and two other people in the van were reportedly injured and taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment.
