Injury-Causing Scooter Accident Occurs on Little Road in Pasco County, Florida

PASCO COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story reported online at tbreporter.com, a scooter accident occurred on Little Road in Pasco County, Florida. An SUV was also involved in the accident, and injuries were sustained by the person on the scooter, according to the news report.* 

The accident occurred during the morning by Ross Lane on Little Road. Florida Highway Patrol and the Tampa Bay Reporter state that a 2014 Jeep Wrangler and a 2014 Taoi scooter were headed northbound on Little Road at about 10:30 a.m. The Jeep was traveling in the outside lane and crossed into the lane of the scooter, after which the two vehicles collided. 

It is not clear what caused the accident to occur, and Troopers did not report any specific factors they might be investigating as having contributed to the wreck. A photo taken at the scene and posted to the Tampa Bay Reporter website shows both vehicles stopped in the outside lane of the roadway with the scooter lying on its side. 

The Tampa Bay Reporter states that the person riding on the scooter sustained injuries in the accident, and emergency responders took him to Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point for treatment. He was identified as a 65-year-old man from Port Richey, Florida, and is reportedly in critical condition. Troopers reported that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. 

It is not clear if the driver of the Jeep was injured. He was identified as a 73-year-old man from New Port Richey, Florida. The Tampa Bay Reporter states that he was cited by authorities for careless driving.
