Boat Accident Reported by Ken Thompson Park on City Island, Florida; Child Injured

CITY ISLAND, FL. – According to an online news story reported at, a boat accident was reported by Ken Thompson Park on City Island, Florida. The incident resulted in injuries to a child, according to the report. Information regarding how the accident occurred was not available at the time of the report.* 

The accident happened in the late morning near the park on City Island. Officials say that they responded to a call sometime before noon regarding a boat falling over and injuring a child. The news report states that the boat was on land and somehow fell onto a 9-year-old girl. 

It is not clear how this occurred or where specifically the boat was located at the time. The type of boat involved was also not reported. Officials did not say what factors might have led to the accident. 

WWSB reports that the girl was injured in the accident, and emergency responders called in a medical helicopter to fly her to All Children’s Hospital. The extent of her injuries and her current medical status were not reported. 

The news report did not say whether the girl was with her parents at the time of the accident or who else was at the scene. No other injuries were reported. None of the persons involved was identified. 

Authorities are still in the process of investigating the incident, and at the time the WWSB report was published online, no further details about the accident or the child were available. It is not clear which agencies are handling the investigation.
