Pedestrian Accident Reported on Hwy 247 in Macon, Georgia
MACON, GA. – According to an online news story reported at wgxa.tv, a pedestrian accident occurred on Highway 247 in Macon, Georgia. One person was tragically killed in the accident, according to the news report, after being hit by several vehicles on the highway. The accident happened during the afternoon near Griffin Road on Highway 247. The Macon-Bibb County Coroner’s Office and WGXA report that a truck was traveling on the highway and carrying a ladder in the bed. It is not clear what direction the truck was headed. The ladder somehow fell out of the truck, and the driver reportedly stopped to try to pull it off the roadway.
As the driver was inside a lane on the highway, multiple vehicles ran into him, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. It is not clear how many vehicles were involved, and the vehicles were not described.
WGXA reports that the pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to a hospital in Macon, where he tragically died that evening. Officials said the victim was 56 years old but did not say where he lived. It is not clear if anyone had been riding in the truck with him when the ladder fell out.
