Motorcycle, Truck Crash on Hwy 127 in Dunlap, Tennessee, Resulting in Tragic Fatality
DUNLAP, TN. – According to an online news report posted at wdef.com, a motorcycle and truck crashed on Highway 127 in Dunlap, Tennessee, tragically resulting in a fatality. Two other people were injured in the accident and taken to the hospital, according to the news report, and Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.*
The accident occurred in the afternoon at the intersection with Hickey Circle on Highway 127. Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers and WDEF report that a motorcycle and a pickup truck were both approaching the intersection at about 2 p.m., when the motorcycle somehow ran into the side of the truck.
It is not clear how the accident occurred. The news report does not state what direction the vehicles were traveling but seems to indicate the motorcycle had the right-of-way. The reports says the truck turned in front of the motorcycle. Troopers were not reported to have said whether they were investigating any specific factors that might have led to the crash.
WDEF reported that the person driving the motorcycle was tragically killed in the accident. He was identified as a man from Alabama. The report further states that a second person was riding on the motorcycle, and this person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The passenger was not identified, and the extent of his or her injuries was not reported.
WDEF states the pickup truck driver was also injured in the wreck and taken to a hospital. The report identified the truck driver as being 89 years old.
