Child Seriously Injured in Left-Turn Crash on 10th Street in Atlanta, Georgia

June 08, 2019

ATLANTA, GA. – According to a news report published online at 11alive.com, a child was seriously injured in a left-turn vehicle crash that happened on 10th Street in Atlanta, Georgia. Two vehicles were involved in the crash, and one adult was also taken to a hospital with injuries sustained in the accident, according to the report.*

The accident happened at the intersection with Northside Drive on 10th Street in Atlanta. The Atlanta Police Department and 11 Alive report that a vehicle was traveling north on Northside Drive and attempted to make a left turn onto 10th Street. Officers say that the vehicle did not yield to oncoming traffic before making the turn, and it collided with a vehicle traveling south on Northside Drive.

It is not clear at this time why the accident took place. Officers were not reported to have identified any factors contributing to the wreck. Descriptions of the two vehicles were not provided, but photos taken at the scene and posted to the 11 Alive website show that one of the vehicles was a gray Ford Escape, and the other was a blue car. The make and model of the blue car cannot be discerned from the photos.

Four people were inside the northbound vehicle, including the adult male driver, an adult female passenger, and two young children. 11 Alive reports that one of the children, 5 months old, was not appropriately restrained in a car seat and was seriously injured. Paramedics took the child to Egleston for treatment.

The report says the driver of the northbound vehicle was also injured and taken to Grady Hospital for treatment. His injuries were said to be non-life threatening. It is unclear if anyone else was injured.
