Two-Vehicle Accident on ACE Basin Pkwy in Colleton County, South Carolina, Tragically Results in One Fatality
COLLETON COUNTY, SC. – According to an online news report published at counton2.com, a two-vehicle accident that occurred on ACE Basin Parkway in Colleton County, South Carolina, tragically resulted in one fatality. Two other people were injured in the collision, according to the report, and one person has been arrested.*
The accident happened late in the evening by Green Pond on ACE Basin Parkway/U.S. Highway 17. At approximately 10 p.m., a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck was traveling south and somehow veered from the roadway. The driver of the pickup then reportedly overcorrected and traveled into the median, after which the truck started to flip.
The truck ended up rolling into the northbound lane of the roadway, where it collided with a Porsche convertible. Colleton County Fire Rescue reports that officials arrived to find the pickup lying on its side in the road and the Porsche stopped in a ditch.
News 2 reports that the driver of the Porsche, age 54, was injured in the collision and taken to Colleton Medical Center for treatment. News 2 further reports the driver of the pickup and a passenger in the pickup were both partially ejected from the vehicle during the crash, and the passenger sadly died at the scene. She was identified as a woman from South Carolina.
The pickup driver, identified as a 29-year-old man from Pineland, South Carolina, was extricated from the truck and transported to MUSC. News 2 states that upon his release from medical care, the pickup driver was taken into police custody on charges of felony driving under the influence resulting in death.
