Two Vehicle Wrecks Occur on Interstate 565 in Madison County, Alabama

MADISON COUNTY, AL. – According to a news story reported online at whnt.com, two vehicle wrecks occurred within minutes of each other on Interstate 565 in Madison County, Alabama. The report does not say whether anyone was injured in the two wrecks, but both resulted in serious traffic delays in the area.*

The first of the two wrecks happened at about 6:20 a.m. near Wall Triana Highway on I-565. The accident took place on the eastbound side of the interstate and resulted on one vehicle overturning close to mile marker 9. It is not clear how many vehicles were involved in the crash in total or whether anyone was injured. Drivers in the area were told to expect delays. 

A photo taken at the scene of this accident and posted to the WHNT website shows a vehicle lying on its side in the grassy median between the two sides of the interstate. The make and model of this vehicle was not reported by WHNT, and the type of vehicle cannot be discerned from the photo. Debris can also be seen in the photo in the left shoulder of the interstate.

Less than 30 minutes later, at approximately 6:45 a.m. on the same day, another vehicle accident occurred in the same area of I-565. This accident happened near mile marker 9 on the westbound side of the interstate. The number and type of vehicles involved in the second accident were not reported. The report did not say whether anyone was injured in this accident, either. 

The crashes resulted in slow traffic on both sides of I-565 as crews closed lanes to investigate and clear the road. Additional details about the accidents were not included in the news report.
