Serious Injuries Reported Following Tractor-Trailer Accident on U.S. 41 in Tampa, Florida

TAMPA, FL. – According to an online news story from patch.com, serious injuries were reported following a tractor-trailer accident that took place on U.S. Highway 41 in Tampa, Florida. The cause of the accident was not reported, but investigators say the tractor-trailer crashed into a motorcycle on the highway.*

The accident occurred during the morning in the area of Skipper Road on U.S. 41. Florida Highway Patrol and Patch report that a motorcycle was traveling on U.S. 41, approaching Skipper Road. Troopers say that the motorcyclist had a red light at Skipper Road but did not stop for the light. The motorcycle reportedly proceeded into the intersection, where it was hit by a tractor-trailer that had been traveling on Skipper Road.

It is not clear at this time why the motorcyclist did not stop at the intersection. The news report did not say whether Troopers suspected any factors or were investigating any specific circumstances that might have contributed to the wreck. 

Patch reports that the motorcyclist was seriously injured in the accident and taken to Tampa General Hospital for emergency treatment. He is reportedly in critical condition. The report identifies him as a 30-year-old man from Tampa. 

The report does not say whether the driver of the tractor-trailer sustained injuries in the crash. This driver was identified as a 31-year-old man from Tampa. It is unclear if any passengers were involved in the collision. No other injuries were reported. 

Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to review the case, and Troopers have not released any further details about their investigation.
