Three Vehicles Collide on Hwy 185 Near Columbus, Georgia; One Tragically Killed

COLUMBUS, GA. – According to an online news story reported by, three vehicles collided on Highway 185 near Columbus, Georgia. The collision tragically resulted in the death of one person and injuries to another person. Authorities are still working to understand the events surrounding the crash.*

The collision happened in the afternoon near Smith Road on Highway 185 in Muscogee County, Georgia. Georgia State Patrol Troopers and WTVM report that three vehicles were involved in the crash, but the news story does not describe the three vehicles. The crash happened in the northbound lane of the highway.

No information about the circumstances of the accident or the nature of the crash was included in the report. Authorities and officials at the scene did not immediately say what might have caused the crash or what factors might have played a role in the crash.

WTVM reports that one person involved in the collision was tragically killed. He was identified as a 54-year-old man from Phenix City, Georgia. It is unclear whether this person was a driver or passenger in one of the vehicles. 

In addition, WTVM reports that one other person was seriously injured in the wreck, and emergency responders took him or her to a hospital nearby for treatment. This person was not identified, and his or her current condition was not reported. 

The northbound lane of Highway 185 was closed down for investigation after the accident. Troopers are still in the process of completing their investigation and have released limited information at this time.
