Three-Vehicle Crash on I-85 Near Montgomery, Alabama, Tragically Kills One Driver
MONTGOMERY, AL. – According to a news report published online at wtvm.com, a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 85 near Montgomery, Alabama, tragically killed one driver. The crash reportedly involved two passenger cars and a tractor-trailer and sent two other people to the hospital with injuries.*
The accident happened in the early evening near mile marker 15 on I-85. Authorities and WTVM report that a 2005 Mercury Marquis that had been traveling on the interstate somehow collided with a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria. A tractor-trailer then became involved in the crash, though it is not clear how. No information about the events leading to the crash was reported.
It is unclear what direction each of the three vehicles was traveling prior to the accident or what might have caused the crash. The accident reportedly happened about four miles outside of Montgomery.
WTVM reports that the driver of the Mercury sustained fatal injuries and tragically died at the scene. He was identified as a 29-year-old man from Auburn, Alabama. The report did not say whether he was the only person inside the Mercury.
WTVM further reports that the driver of the Ford and the driver of the tractor-trailer were injured in the collision, though the report does not say where they were taken for treatment. The extent of their injuries and their current medical statuses were not provided in the report. Neither of the drivers was identified.
Authorities’ investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and at the time of the WVTM report, no further information was available.
