Two Tragically Killed in a Two-Vehicle Wreck Occurs on Ocean Blvd on St. Simons Island, Florida

June 04, 2019

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, FL. – According to an online news report posted at thebrunswicknews.com, a two-vehicle wreck occurred on Ocean Boulevard on St. Simons Island, Florida, resulting in the tragic deaths of two people. Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation, and Troopers reportedly suspect that alcohol played a role in the accident.*

The crash happened in the early evening near 7th Street on Ocean Boulevard. Georgia State Patrol and The Brunswick News report that a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling south on the roadway and somehow entered the northbound lane. The driver of a northbound 2011 Dodge Caravan tried to swerve to avoid a collision with the Chevy, but the two vehicles crashed into each other.

The front of the Chevy hit the passenger’s side of the Dodge about 170 feet from the intersection with 7th Street. The collision occurred near St. Simons Elementary School.

The Brunswick News reports that the driver of the Chevy and a passenger in the Chevy were tragically killed in the accident. The driver was identified as a 28-year-old woman from Waycross, Florida, and the passenger was identified as a 25-year-old woman.

In addition, The Brunswick News states that the driver of the Dodge and a passenger in the Dodge were injured in the crash and flown to Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, for treatment. The driver was identified as a 50-year-old woman, and the passenger was identified as a 57-year-old man. They were said to be in critical condition.

Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the wreck, but Troopers told reporters that they believe the Chevy driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and might have been impaired.
