Fatal Three Truck Accident Closes All Lanes of Interstate 95
BOYNTON BEACH, FL – According to an online news report at wpbf.com, all of the southerly lanes of Interstate 95 located at Gateway Boulevard have finally been reopened following a deadly accident involving three tractor trailers.*
All of the southbound lanes have been reopened earlier this week almost ten hours after three 18-wheelers crashed into one another. The accident resulted in the tragic death of one of the drivers, per local officials.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, all lanes were finally reopened in the mid afternoon. For multiple hours, only two lanes of traffic were open as a result of the extent of the accident.
In the early morning, it appears that three 18-wheelers were going south on Interstate 95. The first two tractor trailers slowed down due to the fact that there was highway construction on the roadway. Per a corporal from the Florida Highway Patrol, the third 18-wheeler failed to stop in time to avoid the collision.
Per officials, the driver of the first semi-truck tragically died and the operator of the second tractor trailer was taken by ambulance to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The victims have not been identified at this time, and the current status of the injured trucker remains unknown.
“Gotta pay attention to traffic in front of you. It was an early morning crash," the corporal stated. "Just before 5 am., this is the time people are going to work. They are tired. Gotta pay attention to the vehicles in front of you."
During the morning rush hour, drivers going south on Interstate were required to follow a detour due to the accident. The lanes going northbound became backup due to “gapers’ block.”
