Driver Tragically Dies in a Collision in Robertson County, Texas
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TX – According to an online news report at kbtx.com, the Texas Department of Public Safety has been able to positively identify a man who was tragically killed in a crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck.*
The accident occurred earlier this week located close to Calvert on FM 979 at Black Bridge Road.
Per a spokesperson from the Department of Public Safety, the male victim, aged fifty eight, perished at the scene of the accident.
Per Texas police, the male victim was going along FM 979 eastbound when, for reasons that are unknown, he veered into the opposite side of the roadway. The semi-truck moved over the easterly lane to avoid a collision with the man yet the victim returned to that lane, which caused the semi-truck to slam into the victim’s vehicle. Given the impact of the crash, the victim tragically died, and the man driving the 18-wheeler did not sustain any injuries.
There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
Tractor trailers, semi-trucks and other commercial trucks are a common sight on American roads. They deliver goods throughout the United States to various locations. These vehicles are less likely to be involved in an accident however, crashes still do occur.
Per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 18-wheelers account for about eight percent of all deadly crashes and three percent of all injury and property damage related accidents. This may seem like a low amount however, each year there are approximately four thousand people who perish in large trucking accidents and over 100 thousand people who sustain injuries.
