Moped Driver Tragically Dies in Vehicle Accident in DeKalb County, Georgia
DEKALB COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report published online at fox5atlanta.com, a moped driver tragically died in a vehicle accident in DeKalb County, Georgia. The DeKalb County Police Department is leading the accident investigation, and officers reportedly took one person into custody after the crash.*
The accident happened in the late evening on Hambrick Road in DeKalb County. Police officers and Fox 5 state that a moped was traveling south on Hambrick Road not long before midnight. Near the area of Memorial Drive, police say that a northbound Dodge Charger crossed over the median of Hambrick Road and entered southbound traffic.
After traveling into the southbound lanes, the Dodge crashed into the moped. The news report did not say why the driver of the Dodge left the northbound lanes or what circumstances might have led to the crash. Details about the events transpiring prior to the collision were not reported.
Fox 5 reports that the driver of the moped sustain fatal injuries and tragically died at the scene. The victim’s name, age, and city of residence were not provided by investigating officials.
Fox 5 further reports that the driver of the Dodge was placed under arrest after the accident. No identifying information was released about this person, either, and the report did not say whether he or she sustained injuries in the crash.
