Hit and Run Motorcycle Driver Causes Death of Pedestrian in Cummings Georgia

CUMMING, GA —According to an online news report at 11alive.com, the family of a pedestrian who was struck by a motorcyclist is seeking help to cover the man’s unexpected funeral costs.*

A twenty seven year old man was struck and died following a hit and run crash that occurred while he was walking on Dahlonega Highway, per the local police.

The man was a father and spouse, leaving two daughters behind, as provided by the family.  The youngest child he has is only three years old.

A roadway memorial was set up at the place where the man died, which is located approximately two miles northbound of downtown Cumming, Georgia.

The man’s body was located right after 4:00 in the morning with a black and green Kawasaki ZX1000 motorcycle less than four hundred feet away from where he was found.  The motorcycle was pushed out of the roadway and resting on its kickstand when police came upon the scene.  Police believe that whoever hit the pedestrian had moved the bike before leaving the scene.  A helmet face shield was located in the vicinity of the accident, however, no helmet was found.  

Police detectives were able to trace the motorcycle’s license plate number to the bike’s former owner, who noted that he sold it several months prior to a man named Timothy. He did not have any further information for police.  As such, the identification of the motorcyclists continues to remain unknown.

The victim was apparently walking home from a friend’s house on the narrow shoulder of Dahlonega Highway where he was hit and killed.  

There are no further details on the accident at this time.  As a result thereof, investigators are asking anyone who might know who was driving that motorcycle to call the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at 770-781-3087.
