Savannah, Georgia, Police Looking for Driver Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Crash

CHATHAM COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report published online by wtoc.com, police in Chatham County, Georgia, are looking for the driver involved in a fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 95. The driver fled the scene, and officers are asking for the public’s help in locating this person and making an arrest.* 

The incident happened on Interstate 95 in Chatham County, close to mile marker 105. The Savannah Police Department and WTOC report that at about 2:10 a.m., a pedestrian was walking on the shoulder of I-95 south, when a passing vehicle struck him. Officers say the vehicle departed from a southbound lane and entered the emergency lane, where it hit the pedestrian. 

According to police and WTOC, the driver of the vehicle then fled from the site of the accident. When police arrived at the scene, he or she was gone. WTOC reports that the pedestrian was severely injured in the collision and did not survive. He was identified as a 60-year-old man. His city of residence was not listed in the report. 

The Traffic Investigation Unit of the Savannah Police Department has been investigating the case, and officers are now asking for the public’s help in locating the driver involved in the deadly crash. Officers say that the vehicle is a light blue 2006 Honda Odyssey. This is a minivan model of vehicle. No descriptive information about the driver was reported.
